Greetings! My name is Jamie Evans, aka The Herb Somm. I'm a 3 x author, certified sommelier, and entrepreneur specializing in cannabis, CBD, food, recipes, wine, and the canna-culinary world. My culinary-meets-cannabis blog and lifestyle brand focuses on the gourmet side of the cannabis industry. If you're looking to learn more about infused edibles and drinkables, welcome home!

As a cannabis and wine personality, I am best known for my literary work and signature canna-culinary events. I've also contributed to POPSUGAR, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, High Times MagazineMARY Magazine, and The Clever Root magazine specializing in lifestyle features for the modern consumer. In addition,  I am the co-editor of GoldLeaf's acclaimed cannabis Cooking Journal and author of the CBD lifestyle book, The Ultimate Guide to CBD: Explore the World of Cannabidiol. My latest book, Cannabis Drinks: Secrets to Crafting CBD and THC Beverages at Home, was released in April 2021 and published by Fair Winds Press of Quarto Publishing Group.

As an industry leader, I was named one of Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers, one of Marijuana Venture's Top 40 Under 40, and a 2018 Innovator by SevenFifty Daily. I was also recognized as one of Green Market Report’s “Most Important Women in Weed” in 2020.

Alongside my work in the cannabis space, I am a Certified Sommelier, a Certified Specialist of Wine, and a French Wine Scholar with over a decade of wine industry experience. Having represented a wide array of organizations and wineries including Jackson Family Wines, Folio Fine Wine Partners, Napa Valley Grapegrowers, and more, I am known for producing high-end events and developing top-notch public relations, marketing, and hospitality programs.

Born and raised in California, my roots extend back to South Dakota farm families. I developed a love for wine and agriculture while earning my degree in Wine and Viticulture, with a concentration in Wine Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. As an avid traveler, I followed my passion to various international viticulture regions to further educate myself on the global wine market. During my time abroad, I studied at The University of Adelaide, Australia, and studied at The Engineering School of Viticulture & Enology at Changins, Switzerland where I learned about Swiss, French, and Italian winemaking practices.

Continuing my education, I also earned a certificate of Wine Business Management from Sonoma State University and received the Young Leaders Summit Scholarship in 2016 by SommCon USA which recognizes young leaders in the wine industry. Today, I continue my wine education at the San Francisco Wine School.

The Herb Somm was created in March 2017 with the goal of educating consumers and the public about culinary cannabis, and healthy ways to incorporate herbal products into everyday life. While there is an emphasis on cannabis pairings and recipes, wellness and CBD education are also a focus.

In March of 2018, The Herb Somm blog was brought to life with Thursday Infused, a gourmet event series that highlights different cannabis chefs across the US. These educational sessions are focused on promoting healthy and safe ways to consume edibles, cannabis, and CBD products.
